On unexpected journey with Jerrylou: SINGAPORE.

My cousin and childhood friend, Jerrylou grew up with a silver spoon where she came from a family in a medical field. Her grandparents and dad are dentists and her mum is a nurse and a U.S. citizen who lives in Huntington beach in Cali. Life is really good when you grew up with good parents who are not just responsible but also care for you. I remember the time we were kids that I envy all her new toys, and branded bags that are imported from Cali. Nonetheless, there wasn’t a time that she makes everyone jealous of her. She is as always generous and kind to share with people what she has.

Jerrylou got everything in her life – big house, cars, maids, good family…you name it. She always thought that she was the star of her own life. However, with her childhood sweetheart and ex-husband, she decided to take a chance and be the woman behind the man for a change. It wasn’t easy to be married at 18 and be a mum of three at the very young age. She found love, a true love but lost herself in the process.

Ten years later she ended up her marriage and moved on with her children. Away from everything; gossips and pains. I wasn’t there when things were really bad in her life. I was back in Manila and Singapore studying, working and taking responsibilities of my family’s needs. It was likewise during difficult times in my life.

Thanks god there’s social media where we stay in touch and catch up on our new lives since 2006. When I heard a lot about her situation, I was really sad, and devastated. I wished to be there for her and be her childhood friend again that she can count on. In 2016, she messages me on Instagram that she will be in Singapore. I was the happiest person for her because I always knew one day she will make it. One day she will realize her fullest potential and when it happens…NO ONE CAN STOP HER.

Now my childhood dearest friend is in Singapore – and at 33 and fabulous, and she’s back on the market in more ways than one. She got a job offer, new life and we will take on the adventure of a lifetime. I am so proud of her. As always! And I want to be there for her and help her shine in the most lovely way than ever. ;)

That day I told her; "woman let me remind you who you are, okay? You are beautiful and strong, and if anyone tells you're not it is because they don't want you to feel it."

During our trip in Malaysia I told her something important; “It doesn’t matter who hurt you or what you’ve been through in life. All of these things must happen in order for you to grow and evolve. Many years of my life when people hurt me in the most devastated ways; a very close friend of mine who slept with my ex, a friend of mine cheated me in the business, an old best friend of mine who made me look like a bad person that I’m not, and other stories that I don’t know how on earth I can share it with you. One day I walked away from these people holding my heart. I hide my sorrow and moved on. I wanted to be angry, and be a bitch to everyone so people won’t take advantage of me [anymore] but I realized you cannot let people take your happiness and sweetness away from you. Do not ever let your heartaches change you. Your past, and heartaches shouldn’t define you. And once you realize it you will do amazing things. Beyond imaginable.”
